Frequently Asked Question

How do I connect with Google Meet using SIP?
Last Updated 11 days ago

SUMMARY

It is possible to call into a Google Meet meeting using sip.audio and therefore also from ipDTL, BUT it is somewhat complex, and requires an additional third-party service from Pexip.

SETTING UP PEXIP FOR GOOGLE MEET

This is beyond the scope of this article, but in summary...

  • Contact Pexip, to create a new account.
  • Configure your own web domain to use with Pexip e.g. pexip.yourdomain.com
  • Generate a security token in your Google account settings, and upload it to Pexip.
  • Contact In:Quality to enable Pexip's specific encryption requirements on your account.

CALLING INTO A GOOGLE MEET MEETING

  • Start or schedule a new meeting.
  • Under the joining options, select 'More phone numbers'.
  • Next, select 'Third-party systems'.
On that page, you should now see a SIP address, consisting of a number @ yourdomain.com
  • From your SIP device (or ipDTL), enter that address.

  • Note: The audio quality which we experienced in our tests was not of broadcast quality.
